Winter Century Ride..

Hi

13 hardy souls set out on the ride taking a large anticlockwise loop into the Scottish Borders and back to Alnwick again, to review the route click here. The weather was not too bad to start with but deteriorated badly and in the end we spent the last 4 hours struggling against high winds and heavy rain.

There we many memorable moments, a broken front mechanism, a broken chain, 2 punctures, one of the riders unable to continue and having to be left in the hands of a kind country soul to be collected later, severe cramp left him unable to continue as he was unable to make the Billsmoor ascent at about the 80 mile point.

Anyway, we made it in the end, it was good trial run for the forthcoming Gran Fondo Northumberland in a few weeks time. What a hard sport cycling is!
