Sunday Training

Hi

Time for the long ride of the week this time in the company of Ian, Derek, and John who is back from his latest of many holidays. Nice steady ride in smashing weather but it was really cold first thing. Road lovely and dry but frost on the fields and back to the joys of full gloves and being unable to open bottles easily and wrestling with snacks, good old England, I'll be making good use of the turbo in the coming months.

Went up to Bamburgh via Belford, back down the coast to Alnmouth then back up over Shilbottle and down into Alnwick again. Lovely sunshine for much of the ride which covered about 63 miles or so, Derek was struggling rather for the latter part, I think he has been riding to work for most of his training and I think he now realises that more than that is required. This was a steady easy ride and shouldn't really be troubling him, maybe yesterday took more out of him than he thought.

PowerTap working like a dream apart from the cadence data from the hub which is not accurate and in any event only provides an estimate, may buy the add on pedal sensor which would be spot on. Have abandoned the HRM now with the chest belts not being compatible so no altitude data but that wasn't going to alter things, I'd much rather have the power information.

An average of 166W for the ride (endurance level) and a comfortable 127BPM average HR, very nice. I am starting to see some pretty low HRs at times these days, happy about that.
