Sunday Training

Hi

The scheduled hard ride went ahead and John and I completed the figure-of-eight ride in a little under 4 hours, the route is a little over 55 miles and includes over 5000' of ascent, today's ride was made even more difficult than usual by the fact that there was an extremely strong (20mph+) WSW wind which was in our faces for the whole of the first half of the ride and somehow didn't seem to help us nearly as much in the second half as it hindered us in the first. Progress was also slowed by the fact that this has been a pretty hefty week of effort leading up to the Fred Whitton next weekend, I was tired before I set off. Still, it's in the bank now!

We didn't climb at full tilt today and rode reasonably conservatively, as far as is possible on this route, hopefully after the forthcoming easy week I'll feel the benefit of this in the Lake District.
