Monday (not) Training

Hi

All packed up and a very early start this morning, we left the accommodation at 04:30 to head down for Nice. Having had such a good drive up we decided to again go over the mountains and we had a smashing journey again even though we had a small fuel crisis and ended up running on fumes on one of the vehicles before an open refuelling point was reached! Not only was the route over the mountains each way very beautiful it saved us a fortune in toll charges and took only about 15 minutes longer as the toll route is much longer.

A real highlight of our journey was the crossing of the Col de la Bonette which I believe is the highest Tour de France col. The views from here early in the morning were just spectacular.

Anyway, we finally arrived in Nice in very good time for out flight home which again went well with no delays eventually arriving back in a cold and rainy Newcastle in the early afternoon.

This has been a really terrific trip, a great ride, great company, great memories.
